Relearning how to type

It's been a while since I've updated "Teasing the Golden Boy" and I'm sorry! *hides in shame* The reason is that I've switched from QWERTY to a Dvorak keyboard and I'm basically re-learning to type from scratch.

Dvorak layout
At this point any sort of typing is painfully slo-o-o-o-o-ow and frustrating, which means that although I'm writing, it's happening one. Pause. Arduous. Pause. Letter. Pause. At. Pause. A. Pause. Time.

Ahem. Aaaaanyway.

I'll bet you're wondering why anyone would willingly torture themselves so. Well, I'm glad you asked.

  1. At the rate I'm going I'll probably lose my ability to type within the next 15 years thanks to RSI. Dvorak practically eliminates that.
  2. Using Dvorak increases one's typing speed. Many people have reported an increase of over 600%!
  3. Every person I have found who has made the switch successfully is adamant that they'll never go back. That's powerful stuff.

The downside is that it takes roughly a month to unlearn your old typing skills and re-train your neurological pathways and muscle memory to be on the same level you used to be. But don't worry, I will make updating my main priority, even if it kills me (it just might).

As an aside, it took me over 2.5 hours to type this post. Crazy, huh?
